As an unfortunate trend, the rape culture has increased in India and a few regions have already become unsafe for women. The International media already declared the national capital Delhi as the rape capital. Despite more strict laws coming into force, the rapes are not coming down in the country.

The culture had reached the problematic situation that women are being raped irrespective of their ages. Minors and even senior citizens are subjected to sexual assaults. Recently, we have seen how minors have reportedly sexually assaulted a victim in the Hyderabad case.

In an unfortunate incident, one Manoj Pratap Singh who hails from Rajasthan raped a minor girl and the state High Court slapped him with the death penalty. But the accused moved the Supreme Court to challenge the verdict given by the High Court.

The Supreme Court heard the petition and said that the heinous crime cannot be permitted and the death penalty announced by the High Court is right. The top court upheld the death penalty. The bench of the Supreme Court comprising justices AM Khanwilkar, Dinesh Maheshwari, and CT Ravikumar heard the petition.

Recalling the events related to the sexual crime, the bench said that the way the culprit gained the trust of the victim and took the opportunity cannot be accepted and the victim is just a seven-and-a-half-year-old girl. The victim is physically and mentally challenged.
