Supreme Court To Hear Sabarimala Case After 3 Weeks

To fine-tune the issues which were suggested by the Sabarimala bench, S A Bobde, CJI has granted three weeks for the opposing sides in the Sabarimala case to file the suggestions.

The CJI also said that the Secretary-General of the apex court will be coordinating with the lawyers to reframe and add issues that need to be dealt with.

The Supreme Court has heard many pleas on the discrimination against the women in religious places in the country which includes Sabarimala Temple too.


The nine-judge constitutional bench led by the CJI said that the questions which were passed by the court in the review order will only be heard.

'We are not hearing review pleas of Sabarimala case. We are considering issues referred to by a 5-judge bench earlier,' the bench said.

Justices R Banumathi, Ashok Bhushan, L Nageswara Rao, B R Gavai, S A Nazeer, M M Shantanagoudar, R Subhash Reddy, and Surya Kant are the judges in the Constitutional bench.

Along with with the restriction son the women entry to Sabarimala, the apex court will also look into the restrictions on the Muslim women entry to mosques and dargahs, and also on the restrictions where Parsi women, married to non-Parsi men, are not allowed at the holy fireplace of an Agyari,
