T government gets tough with drug peddlers, cancels Pub licence

Acting in a stern manner, the Telangana Government has cancelled the licence of the Pudding and Mink Pub, being run in the Radisson Blue Plaza Hotel of Banjara Hills.  It has also cancelled the liquor licence of the hotel. The excide department of the government has sent notices to this effect.

The hotel and the pub are in the eye of the storm when a rave party was busted recently. Several VIPs and their wards were booked in the incident. The hotel was found to be supplying banned narcotics to those present in the pub.  Post the incident, the 24-hour liquor supply licence too was cancelled.

Excise minister Srinivas Goud said that the government will not spare anyone indulging in drug peddling. He said the government has already warned the pub owners that their licences would be cancelled if they were found to be involved in the drug trade. He said that CM KCR has a zero tolerance approach to drug peddling.

The Telangana government meanwhile has intensified the probe into the source of the drug supply. The seized drugs were sent to the forensic lab for further study. Other clues are also being collected. A case has already been booked against the owners of the pub. Two persons – Anil and Abhishek – have been remanded to the Chanchalguda jail, while the role of event manager Kunal and DJ Shashidhar Rao are also being probed. One of the organisers of the pub – Veeramachaneni Kiran and his friend Arjun – are at large.
