Telugu Speeches In Tamil Nadu Assembly

Unusual development took place in the Tamil Nadu Assembly. During a debate happened over the issues faced by linguistic minorities, Few MLAs spoke in Telugu over the discrimination faced by Telugu and Urdu-speaking people in the state.

DMK MLA Y Prakash, who is representing Thalli Constituency, began the speech in Telugu. He complained Students were forced to write exams in Tamil.

Neither Speaker nor most of the MLAs were able to understand what Prakash spoke. So, Education Minister KA Sengottaiyan translated the speech of the MLA before offering his explanation on the issue. He said government has set the rule that local students should appear for examination in two years and those from other states have been given exemption for four years.

Animal Husbandry Ministry Balakrishna Reddy, who spoke in Telugu, blamed DMK for making Tamil a compulsory language. DMK MLA Thangam Thennarasu clarified his party isn't against the minorities.

During this debate, MLAs who couldn't comprehend kept thumping desks while having a smile on their faces. Speaker intervened to say there is no Telugu Translation Desk in the Assembly. He assured to include the debate in the Assembly records if a translation copy is being offered to him or else will just mention as MLAs spoke in Telugu. Once again, MLAs laughed hearing this comment.
