Telugu Is The Third Most Popular Language In The US

Hindi continues to be the most widely spoken language in theUS with 8.74 lakh speakers as of July 1, 2018, followed by Gujarati, and Telugu, a survey released by the US Census. In terms of percentage, the number of Telugu-speaking individuals increased to 79.5 percent between 2010 and 2018.

 Hindi was spoken by 8.74 lakh people in the US as of July 1, 2018, a slight increase of 1.3% from 8.63 lakh in 2017. Since 2010, the numbers have increased by 2.65 lakh (43.5%).

The Bengali-speaking US-based population at 3.75 lakh has shown a rise by nearly 68% over the same eight-year period. This is followed by those who speak Tamil, showing a rise of 67.5% to stand at 3.08 lakh as of July 1, 2018. US Census Bureau reveals that 67.3 million in the US aged over five do not speak English at home and speak other languages at home.
