Tension Grips Ippatam Again With Demolition Drive!

Update: 2023-03-04 18:46 GMT
The Ippatam village in Tadepalli Mandal in Andhra Pradesh was in the news earlier with the demolition drive conducted by the concerned authorities. The opposition parties slammed the government and asked why the ruling party is targeting the people in the village as they have done nothing wrong.

Yet again, the village is in the news as the Capital Region Development Authority(CRDA) authorities are going after the alleged illegal constructions in Ippatam. A few houses and compound walls are demolished by the authorities.

The authorities reached the village along with the JCBs and started the drive. However, the villagers are alleging that the demolition drive is taking place without any prior intimation and started a protest. They reportedly sat on the road to protest against this.

As a precautionary measure, the police are said to have imposed section 144 and asked people to not roam in groups in the village. However, the Janasena slammed the government on this and asked what the government wants to do with the demolition drive.

Jana Sena Party (JSP) Political Affairs Committee chairman Nadendla Manohar lashed out at the government and authorities on the drive and asked why the drives happen only on weekends and not on weekdays.

Nadendla Manohar asked why the government wants to have a 120 feet road in Ippatam when there is no proper road to go to the village. It is sad that the government does not understand this. The authorities also became part of the plan, he added.
