Lockdown Updates: Centre Issues The List Of Activities Which Will Be Permitted
The second phase of lockdown was started in India with the positive cases of the novel coronavirus in the nation increasing rapidly. As per the schedule, the lockdown was supposed to get lifted at midnight on April 14th.
Following this, the Centre has announced the list of the economic activities which will be permitted post-April 20, 2020 in some areas so that the farmers and daily wage laborers will not face any hardships.
"The permitted activities from April 20, 2020 are aimed at ensuring that agricultural and related activities remain fully functional; the rural economy functions with maximum efficiency; employment opportunities are created for daily wage earners and other members of the labour force; select industrial activities are allowed to resume their operations, with adequate safeguards and mandatory standard operating protocols (SOPs); and the digital economy," the order issued by the Home Ministry read.
Manufacturing units and industries functioning from Special Economic Zones (SEZs) were given some relief during the second phase of the lockdown.
All agricultural and horticultural activities will remain fully functional, such as farming operations by farmers and farmworkers in the field, agencies engaged in procurement of agriculture products.
Non-banking finance corporations, microfinance institutions were identified as the essential services and were given exemption from the lockdown rules after April 20. The forest utilities prepared by the scheduled tribe's cocoa farms, spice bamboo, and coconut were also exempted from the list.
