This Seat Is Going To Decide The Ruling Party In KA!

Who said only film celebrities have sentiments? Even politicians have sentiments.. some constituencies have sentiments and there are some sentiments which grab the attention of everybody.  Whether you believe sentiments or not, there is a strong sentiment surrounding Shirahatti constituency in Karnataka elections.  What's so special about Shirahatti? Let us have a look at it.

The party which wins the seat of Shirahatti will eventually form the government in the state and the tradition is going on for the last 46 years. Yes, you read it correctly ... 46 years!  It has been continuing from 1972.  Needless to say, all the eyes are on Shirahatti result now.

Shirahatti constituency is in North-West Karnataka.   Let us see the candidates won in the elections and parties formed the government from 1972.

1972 - Vadirajacharya(Congress), Congress party formed the government under Devraj Urs leadership.
1978-  Congress candidate has won, Devraj Urs became chief minister for the second time.
1983 - Upanal Gulappa Fakeerappa(Independent), he supported Janata Party and the party formed the government under the leadership of Ramakrishna Hegde.
1985 - Janata Party candidate won the seat and the same party formed the government  Rama Krishna Hegde became CM for the second term.
1989 - Congress candidate won and formed the government.  Veerendra Patil became CM.
1994 - Janata Dal leader Mahanta Shettar won the seat,  Janata Dal Party chief HD Deve Gowda became CM.
1999 - Congress won the seat and formed the government under the leadership of SM Krishna.
2004 - Congress won the seat but they didn't get the majority.  They have formed the government with the support of JD(S).
2009 - BJP won the seat and formed the government with their own majority. BS Yeddyurappa became CM.
2013 - Congress won the seat and formed the government under the leadership of Siddaramaiah.

It is interesting to see whether the sentiment will repeat in 2018 again or not.
