US Suspends Europe Travelers For 30 Days

Update: 2020-03-12 06:56 GMT
The ongoing outbreak of the novel coronavirus has started spreading its wings from one country to the other as employees travel to other countries as part of their work duties.

As the latest development, the United States is considering imposing a ban on travelers from Europe to stop the spread of the COVID-19.

"The question is a live question about how to treat Europe as a whole," said Ken Cuccinelli, the acting deputy secretary of the Department of Homeland Security.

"As each country, or in this case region, becomes more and more problematic it obviously gets reviewed on a day-to-day basis," Cuccinelli added.

"The European Union failed to take the same precautions and restrict travel from China and other hot spots. As a result, a large number of new clusters in the United States were seeded by travelers from Europe," US President Donald Trump said.

"We made a life-saving move with early action on China. Now we must take the same action with Europe. We will not delay. I will never hesitate to take any necessary steps to protect the lives, health and safety of the American people. I will always put the well-being of America first," Trump added.
