Venkaiah Naidu is known for his good oratory skills and has the knack of delivering punchlines without a break. He was the one who raised his voice for Special Status to AP in Rajya Sabha and demanded extension of the provision for 10 Years. In the election meeting held in Nellore, Narendra Modi told only Venkaiah Naidu could claim credit for Special Status while promising he would take care of it if he NDA was voted to power.
Soon after NDA formed the Government, Venkaiah Naidu kept saying there were few technical issues for according Special Status to AP. He citied opposition from Neighbouring States, Niti Ayog and Planning Commission as the reasons. At one point, He tried to throw the blame on Congress citing Special Status wasn't mentioned in the bifurcation bill. He, however, remained tight lipped when reminded him about the amendment to AP Reorganisation Act 2014 for merging 7 mandals of Khammam. Why can't Centre take the same step in the case of Special Status?
Two years later, Centre has made it clear Special Status can't be accorded to AP and Venkaiah Naidu was seen no where. Mr.Naidu didn't even attend the meeting between Modi & CBN on Tuesday. Inspite of protests, He wasn't available to media and didn't even bother to give any assurance to people. Shouldn't it be seen as backstabbing people of AP?
