On August 28th this year, Aurangzeb Road in New Delhi has been rechristened as Abdul Kalam Road following the demise of the People's President. The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has issued orders in this regard.
During the book launch of 'The Chronology of Ancient India - Victim of concoctions and distortions' penned by Vedveer Arya, Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu recalled he used to feel shy whenever he was asked to give the address of his residence as '30 Aurangzeb Road'. "Now, I'm happy to say I am living on 30 Abdul Kalam Road," he told.
Venkaiah Naidu revealed that the request to change Aurangzeb Road to Abdul Kalam Marg hasn't come from any Hindu Groups but a Pakistan-born Journalist Tariq Fateh who is now settled in Canada. "Tariq Fateh visited India in 2013 and shocked to find Aurangzeb name for a street in Nation's capital. He then appealed the Indian muslims to alter the name to Dara Shikoh (The Brother of Aurangzeb," informs the Minister.
The Senior Politician maintained its not the question of Hindu or Muslim and several Muslim rulers have done so much for India in the past.
