Tsunami Kills At Least 70, Injures 600!

Volcano-triggered Tsunami killed 70people and injured around 600 others on the Indonesian Islands of Java and Sumatra. Hundreds of structures were severely damaged because of the underwater landslide.

Residents and Tourists in coastal areas around the Sunda Strait were cautioned not to be near beaches. All those who were evacuated were advised not to return to their homes anytime soon. Disaster Mitigation Agency informed that the death toll and the count of injured will increase.

An active Volcano could create a rock slide which could move a large volume of water and this situation leads to Tsunami. The volcano named Anak Krakatau is located between Java and Sumatra Islands. Lava has been erupting here for months and the Tsunami struck at 9.30 pm on Saturday.

In 2004, An Indian Ocean Tsunami-triggered by an Earthquake killed 2.26 lakh people in 13 countries. In Indonesia alone, 1.2 lakh people lost their lives.
