He was perhaps one of the rarest politicians whom KCR personally invited into the TRS. In fact, KCR went to his home and requested him to join TRS. Normally, it is the other way round. So, this leader joined the TRS ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. But, soon after KCR forgot him and this leader is languishing without any recognition or any post commensurate with his stature.
The leader in question is Mandava Venkateshwara Rao. This leader from Dichpalli played a key role in Nizamabad for over 40 years and has been a four-time MLA. Since the formation of the Telangana, the TDP lost its relevance and Mandava became silent. But ahead of 2019 Lok Sabha elections, KCR went over to his house and invited him to join the TRS and to help his daughter Kalwakuntla Kavitha to win the election. It is another matter that Kavitha lost.
Since then, Mandava has been expecting some key post of the other in the TRS government. Though it's been a year, Mandava has not been rewarded suitably. Though KCR offered him the post of State government advisor in Delhi, Mandava reportedly rejected. Since then, nothing is being heard from the TRS leadership.
Mandava's supporters are getting increasingly impatient. They are building pressure on him to do something or the other. There are also rumours that he might join the BJP. As of now, another politician who joined the TRS during the same time, KR Suresh Reddy, has been given Rajya Sabha post. So, the pressure is now much more on Mandava to bare his fangs. Will Mandava be able to raise a banner of revolt and resign from the TRS or will he manage to please KCR and get the post? Let's wait and see.
