Who Burst crackers for this reason are not Indians: Gambhir

Update: 2021-10-25 12:32 GMT
Before the match against India and Pakistan, World Cup-winning hero, former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir predicted that India will march on to an easy win. However, his predictions were spoiled with Pakistan crushing India by 10 wickets. One more issue had irked Gautam Gambhir.

Taking to Twitter, the BJP MP Gautam Gambhir who represents the Delhi constituency said that a few people have burst crackers for Pakistan winning against India in the match. Gambhir seems to have got upset with this and made a big statement against who reportedly celebrated Pakistan's win.

Gautam Gambhir went on to say that those who are bursting crackers to celebrate Pakistan's win on India cannot be Indians and said, he is supporting the Indian players. His tweet went instantly viral. "Those bursting crackers on Pak winning can't be Indian! We stand by our boys!#Shameful," Gambhir tweeted.

Twitter was divided with Gambhir's tweet with a few netizens supporting him, while few others have bashed him over the tweet. The leftist ideology pages have trolled Gambhir for seeing the issue from a fascist lens. The pages said that the videos that were circulated were from Karva Chauth celebrations.

Another former player Virender Sehwag also made a tweet on alleged celebrations where crackers were burst. He said people talk about banning crackers on Diwali but crackers were used to celebrate Pakistan's win. Sehwag called this double standard.

"Firecrackers are banned during Diwali but yesterday in parts of India there were firecrackers to celebrate Pakistan's victory. Achha they must have been celebrating victory of cricket. Toh , what's the harm in fireworks on Diwali. Hypocrisy kyun ,Saara gyaan tab hi yaad aata hai," Sehwag tweeted.
