Opinion: YCP To Face Tough Time In regions It Swept In 2019!

Update: 2023-03-01 15:40 GMT
It is an open secret that Jagan's waves helped the YCP to record a landslide victory. Except for 15 to 20 MLAs, people cannot name the MLAs who won the elections. The Jagan wave was so strong then, thanks to an aggressive social media campaign that the grand old Telugu Desam Party and Janasena got washed away.

Things have changed now and there is no Jagan wave in the state. We will see Andhra Pradesh gearing up for general elections in a year and all the political parties in the state are busy making strategies to win the polls. The ruling YCP wants to win all 175 seats in the state.

Though the planning is underway for the same, the reality is different. The legislators are facing a tough time meeting people with the Gadapa Gadapaku Mana Prabuthvam program. People are leaving the leaders embarrassed by posing unanswerable questions.

The ruling party is banking heavily on the welfare schemes and no one can assure if the schemes can help them or not. Moreover, the majority of the schemes are Centre funded and people are getting aware of this. A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the funds under the PM-KISAN scheme, Jagan held an event to give a picture that his government is giving funds to the farmers. The AP-BJP is targeting the YCP on this.

Adding fuel to this, the media reports say that the early signs say that YCP would face tough times in two regions it swept earlier. The 2019 general elections saw the party cleanly sweep Anantapur and Kurnool. Despite TDP having a good presence, YCP won the two regions.

But the same might not happen next time and YCP might have to work hard to stay in the race. The allegations of corruption and other wrongdoings are bringing a bad image to the leaders in the two regions and political experts say that this might impact the party in the next polls.

No one can forget the Hindupur MP Gorantla Madhav's video call controversy. The issue became a sensation at the national level too. On top of this, it is said that the internal issues and internal fights among the leaders in the two regions are turning aggressive and the infighting might affect the next polls.
