Ahmedabad Plane Crash: All 242 Onboard Dead?

The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) has confirmed that a detailed investigation is being launched to find the cause of the crash.;

In a heart-wrenching incident, an Air India flight carrying 242 people including passengers and crew crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad airport on Thursday, June 12, 2025. The aircraft, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner was headed to London Gatwick when tragedy struck.

According to early reports, the flight took off from Ahmedabad at around 1:39 PM and soon after, the pilots issued a MAYDAY distress call. Moments later, the plane went down near the Meghaninagar area close to the BJ Medical College hostel causing widespread damage and panic on the ground. Emergency services rushed to the site but unfortunately all 242 people onboard are reported to be dead making it one of the deadliest air disasters in India’s recent history.

The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) has confirmed that a detailed investigation is being launched to find the cause of the crash. A team including the Director General and senior officials of AAIB is en route to Ahmedabad.

Among the passengers, 169 were Indian nationals, while the rest included British, Canadian and Portuguese citizens. The devastating crash also affected many students in the hostel mess area during lunch hours leaving several injured.
