Telugu Desam Party chief Chandrababu Naidu has had a tough time with the alleged AP Skill Development Scam. The investigating agency CID arrested him and the Court gave orders to send him to remand. After around two months he was given an interim bail followed by regular bail.

Amid this the Supreme Court is scheduled to give a verdict on the quash petition in the case. With this everyone waited eagerly to see what the Apex Court will say.

The two-judge bench gave a split verdict on the petition and referred the case to the CJI. However there is no clarity on when the petition will be heard.

Despite the split verdict, the bench gave a verdict which can be seen as a big blow for him. The judges opined that the remand in the case is valid in the case.

Justice Bose said that the remand order cannot be quashed against Chandrababu and stressed that the remand cannot be seen invalid just because prior permission was not taken from the Governor.

Justice Trivedi who said Section 17A won't apply in the case and the provision cannot serve as the protection for those who commit crimes said that the remand given by the Vijayawada ACB court is valid and the inquiry can be continued.

This gave a new twist to the tale. Earlier Chandrababu Naidu was granted a regular bail and he got some time from the case. Since the bail he is not questioned by the investigating officers.

He pinned high hopes on the petition that the Supreme Court would give him a big relief. Pouring water on the hopes, the bench said that the remand is valid and cannot be quashed.
