As usual here, we have the list of the happiest countries in the world and let us have a look into the ranking that India has managed to secure in the same.
The latest World Happiness Report 2026 has once again placed Finland at the top, continuing its long-standing dominance as the happiest nation in the world.
Nordic countries like Denmark, Iceland, and Sweden also feature prominently among the top rankings, reflecting strong social systems and high quality of life.
However, the spotlight for India is less encouraging. India is ranked around 116th position, indicating that despite economic growth, overall life satisfaction remains relatively low compared to many nations.
Interestingly, India continues to trail behind some of its regional neighbours. Countries like Pakistan and Sri Lanka have been ranked higher, which has sparked debate and concern about quality of life indicators within India.
The rankings are based on key factors such as income levels, social support, life expectancy, personal freedom, generosity, and corruption perception.
Overall, while the happiest nations continue to be dominated by stable, welfare-driven societies, India’s position highlights the gap between economic progress and actual well-being.
