The situation in the Middle East is getting particularly problematic every day as Iran is fighting a battle against the United States and Israel together. On that note, something interesting has happened as India has started to host a warship belonging to Iran.

India’s decision to allow an Iranian vessel to dock at one of its ports has drawn attention amid rising tensions in the Middle East. Responding to the issue, India’s External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar said the move was guided purely by humanitarian considerations.

According to officials, the Iranian naval ship IRIS Lavan requested assistance after facing technical issues at sea. India allowed the vessel to dock at Kochi Port so that the crew could receive necessary help.

Jaishankar clarified that the decision was taken from a humanitarian perspective and not driven by political motives. He said that when sailors are in distress, providing assistance is a matter of humanity.

“Regardless of the circumstances, we acted based on humanitarian values,” he stated while responding to questions about the development.

The incident occurred during a period of heightened military tensions involving Iran. Reports also suggested that another Iranian naval vessel, IRIS Dena, was reportedly sunk in an attack near the waters close to Sri Lanka.

Officials said the crew of the Iranian ship was temporarily accommodated and provided necessary support. Analysts say India’s response reflects its effort to maintain neutrality while upholding humanitarian principles during times of conflict.
