Count on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to do the unthinkable. The parliament may be like a house of fire with hot debates and nasty discussions. The members may be fighting it out in the most bitter manner possible. But, at the end of the day, they are all best friends. Prime Minister Modi wanted to give this message to the MPs. On Friday, he invited several MPs for lunch.
What’s so special? One might be tempted to think. After all, luncheon meetings and dinner diplomacy are part of the political armory But, Prime Minister hosted these MPs in the Lok Sabha canteen. He and a host of MPs from various political parties dined along with a host of other MPs and staff. The MPs who got the invite were BJP’s Hina Gavit, L Murugan, TDP MP Rammohan Naidu and BSP MP Ritesh Pandey.
The dinner went on for 45 minutes and the prime minister enquired about the MPs’ families, personal issues and was full of banter. This was the last day of the last session of the parliament before the upcoming general election. So, there was less of politics and more of bonhomie.
The Prime Minister reportedly invited them for lunch by saying that he was going to penalize them and that they should sup with him on Friday. The lunch with prime minister came to light when TDP MP Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu shared the pics of the special lunch on social media. Prime Minister Modi being prime minister Modi, he not only paid his own bill, but also paid the bill of all the MPs invited.
