Sunrisers Hyderabad is one of the title favourites for the ongoing season of IPL 2026, considering the aggressive mindset that the team has been displaying in recent seasons. So good things were expected from Sunrisers in the opening game against Royal Challengers Bengaluru tonight.
However, Sunrisers was absolutely pathetic in this game when it comes to the bowling department as they considered a target of 200 runs within 16 overs.
Incidentally, Sunrisers was put to first and they ended up scoring 201. Captain Ishan Kishan was absolutely brilliant with the bat as he scored 80 runs on his own, which contributes to the larger portion of the team score.
However, this target was of no use in front of the strong batting lineup of Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who are not just the defending champions from last year, but also the title favourite this year.
RCB was so brilliant with the bat that they completed beaches of 200 runs against SRH within 16 overs. This would essentially mean that RCB run rate is going to be extremely positive, right at the start of this season.
While this result might be great news to RCB fans, it must be pointed out that Sunrisers fans will be in major concern for the next few games. This team will need to desperately pick up the momentum in the bowling department if they are to continue as the favourites.
