Adding more trouble to the industry, the Govt says no to reopen of Theatres!
Bollywood, the biggest film industry in the country which is in plans to release big films, suffered a big shock with the government issuing new guidelines on the Covid protocols in the State.
The guidelines issued by the Maharashtra government says that the movie theatres and the multiplexes across the state should be shut.
The revised guidelines will come into effect from the 15th of this month. The new development will surely impact the business of Hindi films with Maharashtra holding a big share in the collections.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Thackeray announced the new guidelines after chairing a key meeting with the Health Minister and others.
The Restaurants, Eateries, Shops, Malls, Gyms, Parlour and Saloons will be operating till 10 PM with 50 percent occupancy, the guidelines say.
The Private offices will be open 24 hours while the employees were directed to take the Covid doses completely.
While the government permitted weddings with a cap of 100 and 200 guests for indoor and outdoor setup respectively, no religious and cultural activities will be allowed.
The movie halls, multiplexes, theatres and religious places will be shut until further notice.
The state government, which had extended the hours of operations of malls, gyms, restaurants and hotels, made it clear that the theatres and multiplexes will continue to be shut.
The Maharashtra government said no to reopen the theatres when much awaited films like Akshay Kumar starrer Bell Bottom and other films have locked August for the theatrical release.
Bell Bottom makers had earlier announced that the spy thriller will hit the theatres in August. Bell Bottom was dubbed as the first film of Bollywood Khiladi Akshay Kumar to hit the theatres after the Covid had hit the country.
In the wake of the Covid fear, his previous outing Laxmii was released on OTT.
