In a bid to score bigger than ‘Dhurandhar’ in a short time, Bollywood has churned out a lot of movies in various genres. However, after the ₹300 crore bonanza with Bhoot Bangla, nothing worked out for the Hindi movie industry.
But then, due to sheer luck, some of the recently released movies are doing well in theatres, despite poor talk. And well, they are not reaping huge money, but still getting decent collections, at least to recover the publicity costs if not the film costs. But then, the monsoon wreaked havoc on their plans.
The likes of YRF’s Alpha, which features the glamorous Alia Bhatt and Sharvari even in bikini avatars, Akshay Kumar’s Welcome to the Jungle, which has Disha Patani and Jacqueline Fernandez spicing it up, Shahid Kapoor’s Cocktail 2, which has Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna stunning in bikinis, are enjoying some last-minute profits, thanks to the soft Hindi audience who are apologetic towards these movies. Despite the poor talk, these movies are making a couple of lakhs every day.
However, the monsoon rains that lashed Mumbai in the last two days have affected everything. With floods in prime areas where the movie-watching crowd are high, power cuts, traffic issues and blockages all over Mumbai, the footfalls at theatres have drastically reduced. Though schools and colleges got holidays from the government, cinema halls are looking deserted, and people can’t even step out of their homes.
Well, the luck has literally run out for these movies, and most of them are staring at mega losses only.
