In films, timing can change everything. Rani Mukerji recently spoke about balancing work and family life, linking it to the ongoing debate around eight-hour shifts. The discussion started after Deepika Padukone reportedly walked out of Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit with Prabhas, as she wanted fixed working hours. Rani stepped in with her own story, giving a personal take instead of just a comment.

She remembered the days of Hichki, when her daughter Adira was only 14 months old. At that time, she was still breastfeeding and had to plan every detail of her shoot. She left her home in Juhu at 6:30 in the morning, reached the set by 8, worked till early afternoon, and made sure to return home before traffic. The crew adjusted to her, and the film got completed without stress. For her, flexible hours worked only because there was understanding on both sides.

Rani said such arrangements are nothing new. It always depends on the actor and the producer. If both agree, the film happens. If not, one moves on. She pointed out that no one is forced in the industry,it is a matter of choice. Her words also answered the noise around Deepika’s exit, showing that the system has always worked on trust and agreement.

She also touched on the difference between men and women in films. For women, becoming a mother brings physical and emotional changes, but men don’t go through that. Rani called motherhood the closest a woman comes to creating life like God. She even joked that if men had to give birth, maybe wars would never happen, because they would be too busy preparing for babies. Her words carried honesty, humour, and pride in being a woman.
