Things are not going well with the Congress party. Despite having a rich history and pedigree behind it, the grand old Congress party is unable to shine in politics. The party is getting weaker and weaker with every election. Starting with the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, the Congress party has been facing back-to-back election losses.
As if it is not enough, the leaders are raising their doubts about the leadership of the party. The leaders are openly expressing their dissatisfaction with the leadership. It has to be mentioned here that the senior leaders in Congress called for a meeting and demanded massive changes in the party.
One of the members of the rebel Congress leaders, Kapil Sibal bid goodbye to the Congress party and he was backed by the Samajwadi party for his Rajya Sabha membership. The news is a big sensation and a sudden shock to the grand old Congress party.
Rubbing salts into the wounds created by Kapil Sibal, Actress-turned-politician Nagma turned rebel and sought an explanation from the party leadership on why she was not selected for the Rajya Sabha polls. She even asked if she is a less deserving candidate than the Congress who was selected.
As the Rajya Sabha poll date is fast approaching, the Congress party announced the list of candidates from a few states. However, Nagma was not given a call on the list. Not happy with this, Nagma asked what did she get from the party after she dedicated so many years to the party.
In a series of tweets, Nagma asked if the Congress party is seeing her as a less deserving candidate. She even alleged that, when she joined the Congress party, Sonia Gandhi promised her Rajya Sabha house nomination.
"Sonia Ji, our Congress president had personally committed to accommodating me in RS in 2003/04 when I joined Congress party on her behest. We were not in power then. Since then it is been 18 years, they did not find an opportunity. Mr Imran is accommodated in RS from Maharashtra. I ask am I less deserving," Nagma said in her Tweet.
