AP Govt In No Mood to Leave Senior IPS ABV?

Update: 2022-06-29 06:28 GMT
It appears like the Andhra Pradesh government led by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is not ready to leave the senior IPS officer AB Venkateswara Rao in peace. After fighting for two years, he was taken into service by the state government as advised by the Supreme Court.

Weeks after getting appointment orders, the senior officer was suspended by the Andhra Pradesh government the other day in connection with the old case that was slapped against him. The orders came as a surprise to AB Venkateswara Rao aka ABV.

It has to be mentioned here that ABV was kept under suspension on the grounds of his alleged role in irregularities while procuring security equipment when he was the Additional Director General of Police, Intelligence of Andhra Pradesh in the previous government. In connection with the same case, he was suspended.

As the Andhra Pradesh wing of the Crime Investigation Department(CID) is probing the case filed against Rao, the government is alleging that he is reportedly trying to influence witnesses in the case and he was suspended from his posting. He was suspended under sub-rule (3) of the All India Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1969.

It's been one year since the case was filed by the AP CID. Despite the investigation going on, no credible information was found by the investigation officers to prove him guilty in the criminal case that was filed against him.

Even though no evidence was found, he was suspended with the government doubting that he might influence the witnesses. This made many think that the Andhra Pradesh government is targeting him and is after him.

People are drawing a comparison between ABV and Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar, who took charge as the first State Election Commissioner(SEO) of the divided Andhra Pradesh. Just like senior IPS officer AB Venkateswara Rao, Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar also waged a big legal battle and got orders to get appointed as the SEC again.

Looking at the ongoing developments, ABV might have to wage another big legal battle to get his suspension revoked. He was recently appointed as the Commissioner of Printing, Stationery, and Stores Purchase.
