It appears Chandrababu Naidu is all set to lose his grip on his home district of Chittoor. One by one, the stalwarts are leaving the Telugu Desam. Even in his home turf of Kuppam, some of his most loyal followers have resigned from the party and joined the YSRCP.
The latest shocker is the possibility of famed liquor baron DK Adikeshavulu Naidu joining the YSRCP. DK, who had close connections with Vijay Mallya and was the AP distributor of his United Breweries, has been an MP and worked in both the Congress and the Telugu Desam. He was also the chairperson of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam. After he passed away, his wife Satyaprabha was Chittoor MLA for some time. Later, she contested on TDP ticket for Rajampet MP seat and her son DK Srinivasulu contested in 2009 on Praja Rajyam Party ticket. Both were unsuccessful in their respective elections.
Since then, the DK family as been maintaining a low profile and the latest is that DK Srinivasulu met with Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy when the latter came to Tirupati recently. They met for about ten minutes. Since then, there has been a buzz that he is set to join the YSRCP. This will be a major loss for the TDP in Chittoor. Sources say that Chandrababu Naidu is trying to dissuade them from leaving the party but to no avail.
