The Election Commission had released a schedule for the Member of Legislative Council (MLC) elections under the MLA quota for the two Telugu states. The elections for the MLC positions would be held on the 10th of December. 11 and 12 MLC positions in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana will face the elections.
As per the schedule, the notification for the elections would be issued on November 16. The nominations for the elections would be accepted till November 23 and the nominations will be scrutinised on 24th November. The candidates can withdraw their nominations till November 26th. The votes will be counted on December 14th and the result would be announced on the same date.
In Andhra Pradesh, Krishna, Guntur, and Visakhapatnam will have the elections for two positions each, while one position in Anantapur, East Godavari, Vizianagaram, Prakasam, and Chittoor will face the elections.
Coming to Telangana, the MLC elections will be held for two positions each in Karimnagar, Mahbubnagar, and Ranga Reddy and one position each for Adilabad, Warangal, Nalgonda, Medak, Nizamabad, and Khammam. The election code came into effect in the two states and due to this, KCR has postponed his meetings.
