Union Government is seriously considering the idea of launching 2 kg LPG cylinders keeping the poor people in rural areas in mind.
It's an undeniable fact that poor people can't afford the cost of a 14.2 kg cylinder (Rs 418). It was because of this reason Government introduced 5 kg cylinder at a cost of Rs 155 in October 2013. To make it even more convenient for the weaker sections, It is now mulling on launching 2 kg cylinders and even e-bookings for connections have begun.
Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan says the decision was taken for the welfare of BPL families. "A new connection could be now booked online. After a verification within 48 hours, Delivery will be done from the nearest LPG agency within 4 days," he told.
Mr.Pradhan informs 25 lakh people have voluntarily given up LPG subsidy. He is hopeful on achieving the one crore target set by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
