The South Asia Journal has conducted a survey across cities worldwide to compel a list of cities that offer the maximum CCTV coverage facility. The research was done on the CCTV coverage offered per square kilometer and per 1,000 population.
The outcome of the study is Tamil Nadu's capital city Chennai emerged as the city that offers maximum CCTV coverage per square kilometer, followed by Hyderabad.
The shore city Chennai overtook London to become the city with the maximum CCTV coverage. Chennai has 657 cameras per sq km, while Hyderabad has 480 CCTV cameras per square km.
The CCTV coverage in pearl city increased rapidly after the state got bifurcated from erstwhile Andhra Pradesh. Chief Minister KCR gave special importance to surveillance to offer a safer and better city.
Taking the count of CCTVs set up in the cities into consideration, Hyderabad should be number one as Hyderabad has a total of 3,25,000 CCTVs, while Chennai has 2,80,000 CCTVs.
