Is the Congress in Bihar heading for a major split? Will majority of the MLAs cross the floor and join another party? If senior Congress leader from Bihar and former MLA Bharat Singh dropped a bombshell when he said that at least 11 of the 19 MLAs who have won the recent Bihar elections are getting ready to leave the party.
He said that most of those who are planning to leave the party were defectors to the Congress ahead of the elections. They managed to get the party ticket and are now trying to leave the party. If 11 of the 19 leaders defect, it would be considered a split and would not invite provisions of the anti-defection law. He said that these leaders were outside and have managed to get the tickets.
He charged that PCC chief Madan Mohan, Rajya Sabha MP Akhilesh Prasad, senior leader Ajit Sharma and Sadanand Singh were encouraging the defectors to leave the party. He blamed the national leadership for giving them tickets.
