MHA Meeting couldn't sort out issues between Telugu States!

Update: 2022-02-18 05:28 GMT
It's been around eight years since Andhra Pradesh was made into two states. After a long fight, Telangana was carved out of the combined Andhra Pradesh on the grounds of the culture of Telangana. However, the state bifurcation resulted in a few issues popping up between the two states.

As a quality effort to sort out the issues, the Union government had constituted a three-member committee to look into the disputes. The committee falls under the purview of the Ministry of Home Affairs. The first meeting chaired by the committee had commenced the other day.

The meeting is said to have not yielded any positive outcome with both states reportedly displaying an adamant nature. It has been widely reported that the officials of the states have placed their arguments and demands in the meeting.

During the meeting that was held virtually, no disputes were sorted out allegedly. As per the information, both states have come to a common opinion on the issue that the dues have to be paid to Andhra Pradesh by Telangana. The latter gave its nod to pay the dues on a condition that the fellow Telugu state should withdraw the cases that were filed against Telangana.

After placing a condition to sort out the issues that the cases should be withdrawn, Telangana also sought the details of the cash deposits, bank deposits that have to be paid by Andhra Pradesh.

On the other hand, Andhra Pradesh's state Civil Supplies Corporation had agreed to give subsidies to Telangana, which the state got from the Union government. From the Telangana side, the state had given the green signal to pay Rs 354 crores to the other Telugu state Andhra Pradesh.

Keeping in simple words, the first meeting is said to have ended on a disappointing note with major issues not getting sorted out. We have to see how the committee will put an end to the pending issues.

It has to be mentioned that the Union government had withdrawn the Special Category Status(SCS) topic from the list of issues that would be discussed during the meeting ahead of the meeting.
