The other day, the ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs released the 'Ease of Living Index' and Municipal Performance Index' ranking of Indian cities for the previous year, 2020.
To everyone's surprise, the pearl city Hyderabad was not ranked in the top ten rankings of the Indian cities. The rankings were based on several parameters and votings of the people living in the cities.
The Telangana capital was ranked 24th and 17th ranks in the 'Ease of Living Index' (EoLI) and Municipal Performance Index' (MPI) listings respectively. The ranks were given to cities with above one million population and cities with below one million population and Hyderabad falls in the first category.
The points scored by Hyderabad in both indexes have also surprised the Hyderabadis. While the city scored 55.40 points in the Ease of Living Index' (EoLI), it scored a mere 49.08 points in MPI.
It has to be noted that, the TRS government and IT Minister KTR are not leaving any stone unturned to develop Hyderabad as a major city. Despite the efforts, the city failed to bag a place in the top ten list.
India's IT Capital Bengaluru was ranked the best city in the ease of living Index under the category of cities with more than one million population, followed by Pune, Ahmedabad, Chennai, and Surat.
On the other hand, Madhya Pradesh's Indore has been awarded the best city in municipal performance index, while Gujarat's Surat and Bhopal bagged the next places. Madhya Pradesh had two cities on the list.
