RBI Governor Apologizes For 'one-eyed king in land of blind' comment

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Raghuram Rajan   has issued apologies for his controversial comments on the domestic economy. Few days back  Rajan speaking about india's bright spot among global economies said 'In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king'.

The comment of Rajan  invited criticism from several leaders including  BJP Ministers, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and some others. Rajan has today clarified that his comments and he asked apologies to the visually impaired for his statement.

Rajan said he made those comments to signal that India's outperformance was highlighted because world growth was weak.

"I want to apologize to a section of the population, the visually impaired, who might be hurt by my statement. My intent was to say that our outperformance is in the midst of global weakness. Current growth reflects efforts of government, people. India has a long way to go to boost per capita income" Rajan said.

Rajan issued the statement  while addressing the 12th convocation of the National Institute of Bank Management,
