YSRCP chief and AP CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy sure is showing greater maturity in handling political adversaries. When Union Minister Anurag Thakur made some strong comments against the AP Government, YS Jagan did not react. Not just that, no YSRCP had commented on that. It is obvious that there were clear instructions that the YSRCP leaders should not respond to these comments.
Jagan realises that the TDP would take advantage of the situation. He knows that if the YSRCP criticised the BJP, the TDP can court the BJP and befriend it. An alliance between the BJP and the TDP is what Chandrababu desperately wants. Thus, by criticising the BJP, Jagan would only play into the hands of the TDP.
Remember Chandrababu was in a similar situation during the 2014-19 period. Jagan raised the issue of special status and Chandrababu fell for the trap. He too began criticising the BJP on the issue. This led to the break-up of the alliance and the BJP secretly helped the YSRCP to come to power. But, wily Jagan is not ready to take on the BJP at this stage.
Jagan knows that there are unmistakable signs that the BJP is looking for getting decoupled from the YSRCP. Modi talked to Chandrababu on the sidelines of a meeting in New Delhi. Earlier, the TDP representative was invited to the meeting organised to mark the unveiling of Alluru Seetaramraju's statue. He knows that the BJP is also trying to rope in people like Junior NTR and Chiranjeevi. So, Jagan is dealing with the issue with a lot of patience and foresight. Hence, the silence.
