This Man Incited Migrant Labour In Mumbai Through His FB Posts

Update: 2020-04-15 05:55 GMT
The sudden gathering of protesting migrant labourers in front of Bandra railway station in Mumbai on Tuesday evening has left the state and the Central Governments rattled. How could such a huge gathering happen in times of lockdown? - was the question that tormented the authorities.

It now emerges that an anti-CAA protester, who calls himself a leader of the migrant labourers, is responsible for the gathering. For the past few days, he has been circulating a video of himself through his Facebook account and in the Whatsapp groups claiming that he was arranging for 40 buses to take them for free to their native states. He has also asked the migrants to gather at a mosque near the Bandra Railway Station.  He also threatened to undertake  long pada yatra if the government does not allow the buses to travel. The gullible migrants gathered in large numbers hoping that buses would be there. When they found that there were no buses, they became restive and staged a protest. The police had to use force to disperse the crowds.

The police have now arrested Vinay Dubey and have booked cases under sections 117m 153 A, 188, 269, 270 and 505 (2) of the IPC for defying the lockdown and for causing public disorder. An FIR too has been filed against 1000 persons for defying the lockdown.
