It's very sad that even after eight years of getting bifurcated, Andhra Pradesh has no steady capital for the state. No one knows which region would be the capital of Andhra Pradesh. Will it be Amaravati or the three capitals is the big question many have?
The ruling YSRCP wants to go for three capitals showing decentralisation of development as a reason. The farmers in Amaravati are opposing this and they are fighting the demand to keep Amaravati the sole capital of Andhra Pradesh. The farmers are doing the second phase of padayatra and the yatra is going at a good pace.
But the YSRCP Ministers seemed to be worried about the yatra as they are saying they will stop the yatra. Farmers are doing peaceful yatra and they are not making any provocative statements except for saying that Amaravati should be the capital city. They gave thousands of acres of land and it's their right to protest.
Despite this, the Ministers want to stop this. The nature of YSRCP Ministers made political analysts think that the Ministers started feeling fear about the yatra as the demand might get momentum. It is said that the Amaravati yatra received a good welcome in a few regions.
The main criticism the YSRCP does against the yatra is that the opposition Telugu Desam Party is behind the yatra and it is sponsoring it. The ruling party tried its best to say that insider tradition tok place during land pooling. However, the court said such a thing did not happen.
Padayatras have a long history in Telugu land. When Chandrababu Naidu was in power in the last term, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy did his yatra and no restrictions were imposed. In the combined state, YSR and Chandrababu Naidu did a yatra.YS Jagan Mohan Reddyâs sister Sharmila is doing a yatra in Telangana.
But one fails to understand why the Ministers stop particular Amaravati Padayatra. The Cabinet Ministers and former Ministers targeted the yatra as if there is no other issue in the state and this made many feel that the Ministers started fearing the ongoing yatra.
