The Supreme Court of India has reserved the judgement on the much anticipated actress Pratyusha death case and here’s a look into the series of events.

The Supreme Court has reserved its judgment in the long and emotionally charged Pratyusha death case. The case dates back to 2002, when young Telugu actress Pratyusha died after consuming a poisonous substance.

Her boyfriend Siddhartha Reddy was with her at the time and was later accused of abetting her suicide. He challenged the conviction, while Pratyusha’s mother filed an appeal seeking a harsher punishment, insisting that her daughter did not take her own life but was murdered.

Medical reports from that time concluded that Pratyusha died due to organophosphate poisoning mixed in a soft drink. There were no signs of suffocation or physical assault, leading investigators to treat it as a suicide.

Siddhartha was initially sentenced to five years in prison. Later, the High Court reduced his jail time to two years while increasing the monetary penalty. Both sides were unhappy with the outcome and approached the Supreme Court.

Now, after years of legal battles, the Supreme Court has completed hearings and reserved its verdict. The final judgment is expected to bring clarity to a case that has remained controversial for more than two decades. Pratyusha’s mother continues her fight, hoping for justice for her daughter.
