The Much-awaited Lok Sabha elections started. The elections are being held in a phased manner and the first phase saw a few states going to polls as the elections were held for over 100 seats. The intensity and interest around the elections are quite high this time due to various reasons.

Film glamour is the main reason. Films and politics are two big sectors in the country. Film stars taking the political path is not new as the trend has been followed for a very long time. Taking forward the trend, famous personalities from the entertainment industry are in race adding more intensity.

Ravi Kishan: The Famous Bhojpuri actor-cum-vilalin is a popular face. He acted in films across languages and earned a big name. He was with the Congress earlier. But he switched sides and joined the BJP in 2019. In 2019 he was given the ticket from the Gorakhpur seat which was earlier dominated by Yogi Adityanath. He is the sitting candidate there and he is in the race from the seat again.

Kangana Ranaut: The Firebrand actress is making her big political debut. Known for her pro-BJP image, she is given a chance from the Mandi seat in Himachal Pradesh, her home state. She is busy campaigning and all eyes are on her to see what she can do.

Navneet Kaur: She was a popular actress who appeared in a few Telugu films. She shot to super fame with her role in Seenu Vasanthi Lakshmi film. She is the sitting MP from Amravati in Maharashtra. Navneet Kaur contested the last elections as an independent candidate and in the upcoming polls she is a BJP candidate.

Arun Govil: He is a veteran actor who needs no introduction. Like how NTR is famous for playing God roles, Arun Govil mesmerized the audiences with his portrayal of Lord Rama. He became popular across the nation with Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan. He is contesting as an MP from the Meerut seat. Everyone is waiting to see what the Reel Rama can do.

Suresh Gopi: One of the veteran stars in the Malayalam industry is known for his association with the BJP. As an example of this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended Suresh Gopi’s daughter’s marriage and blessed the couple. He was given another chance from the Thrissur seat despite losing the 2019 polls.

Hema Malini: She is known as the dream girl of Bollywood. Her family has been in politics for a very long time. Her husband Dharmendra, a veteran actor, was an MP earlier. Sunny Deol, who is from the same family is also a sitting MP. Hema Malini won two consecutive elections from the temple city of Mathura in UP. She wants to win another election and make three wins in a row.

Rachna Banerjee: A popular actress in the 90s acted in many films in the south and Bollywood. She is a popular TV face now. The ruling TMC in West Bengal gave her a chance. She is the TMC candidate from the Hooghly seat. She will face BJP’s Locket Chatterjee, the sitting candidate. The interesting thing is that both of them are from the film industry.

Shatrughan Sinha: The 77-year-old veteran star is known for his dialogues. If we look at his films there are many popular dialogues. His career started with the BJP and he served as the Cabinet Minister too. Later he joined the Congress. In 2022 he joined the All India Trinamool Congress(AITC) and won the Asansol by-elections. He is the sitting candidate and he is the ruling party candidate yet again.
