Many people across the country called for a boycott of this match and even demanded that India not play against Pakistan. However, the game was conducted as per schedule, but it reportedly witnessed a low viewership due to huge outrage and boycott calls on social media.
Generally, there will be a high anticipation around the India-Pak game, and most of their games end up as thrillers. However, there was no anticipation for this match, and it also ended up as a one-sided game. India won the match in a dominating way by 7 wickets. While Pakistan made 127/9 in 20 overs while Indian scored 131/3 in just 15.5 overs. Kuldeep Yadav was awarded the Man of the Match for his crucial spell (3/18). He was well supported by Bumrah (2/28) and Axar Patel (2/18). Captain Surya Kumar Yadav (47), Tilka Verma (31) and Abhishek Sharma (31) shone with the bat and handed over a comfortable victory for India.
Meanwhile, Indian cricketers didn't shake hands with the Pakistani players after the match, showing solidarity with the grieving families and the Indian Army. On the other side, captain Surya Kumar Yadav dedicated this win to the Indian Army. He said that the entire team would stand by the victims of the Pahalgam Attack and expressed his solidarity. He hoped that the Indian Army would continue to inspire everyone and assured them that the Indian team would give them more reasons to smile whenever they get an opportunity on the ground. Surya Kumar said that a few things in life are ahead of sportsmen's spirit and added that his team gave a proper reply to Pakistan.
On the flip side, Pakistani players protested against Team India's gesture. As Team India didn't shake hands after the game, Pakistani captain Salman Agha didn't show up for the post-match presentation.
People who were upset with India playing against Pakistan were a bit convinced by the gestures made by Team India and Surya Kumar Yadav after the game. Especially, Surya Kumar Yadav was appreciated for his well-mannered and composed words in the post-match presentation, which lifted the spirit of Indians.
