As Tamil Nadu politics are preparing for a crucial term with the arrival of the Assembly election, things are looking very interesting now. The discussion now is about the affidavit that were declared by chief minister Stalin and his son UdayNidhi.
Udhayanidhi Stalin, the Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, formally filed his nomination papers on Thursday to contest the Assembly election from the Chepauk Thiruvallikeni constituency, declaring total family assets of over ₹33 crore in his election affidavit.
According to the submitted documents, Udhayanidhi listed ₹12.92 crore in movable assets and ₹7.72 crore in immovable assets in his name, while his wife, Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi, declared ₹13.25 crore in movable assets and no immovable property. The affidavit shows no declared liabilities.
His reported annual income for 2024-25 stood at around ₹10.4 lakh, while his wife’s income was nearly ₹2.93 crore. Udhayanidhi’s financial disclosure also includes details of luxury vehicles and investments.
In contrast, M. K. Stalin, who filed his nomination from the Kolathur constituency earlier in the week, declared assets of approximately ₹6.26 crore in his affidavit. His movable assets totalled around ₹3.30 crore, while immovable properties were valued at about ₹2.96 crore.
Under his wife, Durga Stalin, movable assets worth ₹1.32 crore and immovable assets of around ₹2.11 crore were recorded, bringing the couple’s combined holdings to just over ₹6 crore. Stalin’s declared cash on hand was minimal, with only ₹10,000 listed, and his income for the year was about ₹30 lakh.
The fact that the chief minister son is richer than him has become a topic of discussion on social media and there are countless debates happening in this connection now.
