New Web Series leads to Uninstall Hotstar hashtag on social media

Hotstar, one of the leading OTT platforms, has come up with a web series titled The Empire. The show started to stream on Friday. Within no time of the streaming, the show started to attract trouble.

As the show is about the Mughal Empire, a section of netizens are not happy with the show and wanted the removal of the show. The complaint against the show was sent to the grievance officer also.

However, the grievance officer reportedly replied to the netizens that the Mughals and Babar were not glorified in the web series.

Unhappy with the response they got from the officer, the hashtag Uninstall Hotstar is being trended by the netizens, which is among the top trends on social media.

The netizens have accused the makers of the web series for glorifying Babar. Dubbing Babar as an Islamic invader, the netizens called for the Uninstall of Hotstar.

The web series The Empire is based on the book Empire of the Moghul: Raiders from the North, written by Alex Rutherford.

The web series comes with a stellar cast of Shabana Azmi, Dino Morea, Drashti Dhami, Kunal Kapoor, Aditya Seal, Sahher Bambba, Rahul Dev and others.
