Modi Going Strong Despite Crises

Update: 2020-09-19 02:43 GMT
Modi is 70 now. He is six years into his prime ministership. He is facing a raging pandemic, an unprecedented economic crisis, unwieldy neighbour like China and a world in a great churn. Yet, despite all these things, the people's trust in him seems to be almost unaffected.

Despite some scratches and loss of shine to his persona, Modi still continues to be popular and the people of India still seem to trust him. His daring decision to abrogate Article 370 and 35 A, his performing of the Bhumi Pujan at Ayodhya, his plans to tame Pakistan and take on China in general have kept him on the pedestal and he continues to be popular.

He continues to mesmerise the people with the image that he had so assiduously built. In 2014, he was  a Chaiwala. Later, he presented himself as Vikas Purush. In the 2019 elections, he was Chowkidar. Today, he is Faqir – a Sanyasi. His barrier-less engagement with the public had helped build his people-connect. His Mann Ki Baats continue to be very popular. He has 62.3 million followers on Twitter, 45 million on Facebook and 49.1 million on Instagram.
