PM Modi Lays A Foundation For The New Parliament Complex, Calls It A Historic Moment

The Prime Minister led union government took a step ahead towards the ambitious Central Vista plan. PM Narendra Modi performed the bhoomi pujan and laid the foundation stone for the new parliament building.

For the historic ceremony, Narendra Modi performed the rituals around a holy pyre at the construction site. The priests from the famous Sringeri Matam in Karnataka were called for the ceremony.

Nearly 200 invitees including Union Ministers, MPs, and religious leaders attended the ground-breaking ceremony held at the national capital Delhi on Thursday.

India's Top Engineering, Construction & Procurement Company Tata Projects have bagged the contract to construct the new Parliament complex. Ratan Tata has also attended the ceremony.

The new Parliament building is believed to be a four-storied construction. The new building which is said to be worth ₹ 1,000 crore would seat 888 members which will be increased to 1,224 Members during Joint Sessions.

Narendra Modi addressed the media after the ground-breaking ceremony. He called the day a day of pride for the Indians as the country is witnessing the ground-breaking ceremony.

Though the foundation ceremony was laid for the new Parliament building, the construction cannot be started as of now. The case on the new Parliament complex is going on in the Supreme Court.
