The issue of disbursing Rs 10000 towards interim flood relief is now turning out to be a noose around the TRS' neck. During the GHMC elections, the party has pompously announced that it would disburse the relief amount to the people from December 7, soon after the elections were over. But, the process has not picked pace and there are complaints galore that the amount is not being disbursed.
Interestingly,, during the last three days, the GHMC had disbursed the amount to just 28,436 persons. The amount has been deposited directly into their accounts. This is arund Rs 28.44 crore. Prior to the elections, the Government has disbursed over 100 crore in two days. Also, no GHMC official has visited the flood affected areas. In several areas, there is still stagnated water. There are complaints galore that the officials are turning back those who are going to the Mee Seva and Circle offices for relief amount.GHMC sources says they are yet to get official orders for the disbursement of the relief amount.
Meanwhile, anger is growing among the citizens over the non-payment of relief material to the flood hit people. They are questioning the intentions of the government on the issue. 'They did a show-off before the elections to get votes. But now, they have completely forgotten us,' complained a flood victim.
