"The couple managed to climb onto the roof of the car and waited there for nearly two hours before we could rescue them," said Kamal Patel, a fire officer.

Crowds gathered on the riverbanks to watch as the fire department waited for the water level to decrease. "A rescue team with a boat was on its way when we managed to bring them to safety," Patel added.
