Anger against MLAs to affect Tirupati YSRCP voting pattern?

Update: 2021-04-27 04:25 GMT
AP Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is said to have called for an assessment of the performance of some of his key MLAs, especially those in the southern Andhra Pradesh. Amid reports that the unpopularity of several MLAs in south coastal Andhra could bring down the majority in Tirupati Lok Sabha bypolls, he is said to have decided to assess the popularity of the MLAs.

Intel sources have said that significant reduction in the polling percentage is a direct reflection of the unpopularity of some of the MLAs.  While 80 per cent of the votes were polled in 2019, the polling percentage has come down to just 64 per cent. There is said to be deep resentment over the performance of MLAs from Gudur, Venkatagiri and Sarvepalli in Nellore district, which forms part of the Tirupati Lok Sabha seat.

Sources say that Gudur YSRCP MLA Varaprasad is quite unpopular. There are also reports that he did not plunge himself wholeheartedly into the campaign.  The same is true about Anam Ramanarayana Reddy in Venkatagiri. He is said to have encouraged groups within the party and these differences have affected the polling percentage in Tirupati bypolls, said the report. Similarly, Kakani Govardhan Reddy, who represents Sarvepalli too is said to be unpopular.

The YSRCP leaders, however, are discounting these reports and said that no such survey was ever conducted. They also say that Jagan factor will override all other negative factors. They say that YSRCP will win Tirupati with a thumping majority.
